At Finerpoints Accounting we are taking the concerns of clients during the Coronavirus pandemic very seriously and have changed some policies and procedures accordingly.

Tax Deadline of April 15th

The tax deadline is now July 15th, 2020, this is true whether you are getting a refund or anticipating owing. If you owe there will be no penalties and interest charged by pushing back the deadline. To the best of our knowledge, this has no affect on the Oct. 15th extension deadline. You can also still file a tax extension. The IRS has additional resources to help taxpayers.

Workforce

In accordance to Governor Polis’ reduction in workforce mandate, we have reduced our non-essential staff at the office. Unfortunately, this will impact how quickly we are able to process tax returns, return calls, return emails and respond to other Finerpoints Business.

In addition, our CPA Pam, was diagnosed with Pneumonia in December and recently recovered before tax season. Her doctor has informed her that this previous condition and her age make her sensitive to the Coronavirus. We have already started making all tax drop-offs/pickups not contact but need to take extra precautions as well.

Pam is accustomed to working 10-12 hour days, 7 days a week during tax season to complete taxes on a timely manner. However, we have had tried to limit the number of hours a day she’s working to somewhat of a normal schedule. This is in effort to reduce the stress on her body to make her less vulnerable to any illness. This, combined with a reduction of workforce, may cause a delay in processing returns.

We appreciate all of our clients patience and understanding in this time of uncertainty. Rest assured we are still working and processing returns, and will try to get your returns done in a timely manner in the order they were received.

Our outside mail slot and envelop basket is still available to make tax document drop offs. We have accounts with Dropbox, Google Drive and One Drive to accommodate digital transmissions for clients. For pickups, we are offering to mail physical copies of returns to clients as well as sending them digital copies via password protected pdf. We can accept a credit card over the phone, check via mail or digital payment via Venmo, Paypal, Square Cash or Apple Cash.

Government Coronavirus Stimulus Payment and Packages

We know there is a lot of rumors and conjecture on social media, the news and with friends on how much they are given, when the checks are coming out and what criteria they are using to determine everything. We ask that everyone remain patient as we don’t know anything until a bill is actually passed a process is provided. We are monitoring the news around this process so we can best inform our clients as it relates to their taxes.

This is also true with all special small business loans, grants and other aid.
